CasaPort railway station in Casablanca

A double-layer Siplast waterproofing system with metal self-finished surface for the new railway station CasaPort in Casablanca.

A complex metal structure of high architectural quality.

The roof is supported by 40 tapered steel columns, anchored by high performance concrete anchors and ending with 8-branched corollas made from folded sheet metal. 4 branches of the corollas incorporate stainless steel tubes ensuring the proper drainage of rain water into the columns. The columns are embedded at the base and bracing is ensured by stability bents.

The roof substrate is made of wooden boards and placed in an inverted slope towards the perimeter of the skylights located at the top of each column terminating in a corolla.

The waterproofing combines high performance with a refined aesthetic.

The railway station is located by the sea and is subject to wind, rain and saline moisture. A waterproofing system with proven performance and an ability to withstand the mechanical stresses inherent to the lightness of the metal structure was needed.

In addition, the aesthetic appearance of the waterproofed surface was essential, as the roof is visible to the luxury hotels overlooking the station.

For these reasons, the architects selected the Siplast waterproofing system , with, on top,  the VERCUIVRE copper foil surfaced membrane,  which will, over time, take an almond green patina.

The total of 7,800 m² surface was covered with torched double layer membrane system with PARADIENE SR3 and copper self-finished VERCUIVRE S membrane.
